Prism Video Converter can transcode your clips to other formats. Likewise, it can strip DVD movies and let you perform basic video editing operations. The program’s installer is extremely light for a product of this type; however, you will need to download and install various on-demand tools, which becomes extremely bothersome.
As most other media converters, this one allows batch operations. In this regard, the tool permits importing not only standard files but also complete folders. As to ripping DVDs, it can open discs and folders as well. It is good that the program supports a long list of formats, provided they use a DirectShow-based coded.
Choosing an output format depends on your purpose as there are conversion profiles for general use as well as specific devices. In addition, you can customize the output profile to meet your exact needs by setting compression rate, resolution, and frame rate. It is good to know that you can use high definition or make the resulting file match a specific size.
The tool lets you perform some editing, such as adding watermarks and text overlays, rotating the image as well as applying color adjustments and filters. Yet, it has fewer editing features than other similar tools. Instead, the converter provides a link to an external editor.
All in all, I cannot complain about the quality of the results, as Prism Video Converter supports lossless conversion. Regrettably, though, I did not like much this product. I was particularly annoyed by a multitude of ads and links to other products by the same developer. The application is free to try and there is even a free version for non-commercial use, which has the limitation of supporting fewer encoding formats.
